I've graduated!!

I graduated on Saturday, and it's still pretty surreal to me. I never thought that day would come, and now that it has passed, it seems almost like a dream. I feel like I'm just on vacation, like- oh, I'm just gonna go hang out in Disney World for a while, no big.... except it hasn't set in that I won't be going back to school. I've now entered that seemingly fairytale place that adults refer to as "The Real World", and they're not talking about the TV show. I think that this also means that I am an "Adult", maybe, I guess... I mean, I'm nearly 24, so technically that's been true for almost 6 years, but I was never finished with my education, or mooching off my parents till now (ok, fine, I may continue mooching off them for a couple more months).

I find it funny that my graduation day was the "day of rapture" I'm not a religious person, but I did find a certain philosophical meaning behind it for me- It was a day of ending; the end of my educational life, the end of classrooms, tests and homework. The end of the schooling chapter, and the beginning of a new life of working, responsibility, and learning how to live more independently.

This just seems like an insane point in my life, but the DCP will be a great transition. They help to ease into the responsibility, of work and living on my own. I've done it before so it won't be too new, but it'll def make it easier for whatever comes after the program.

Graduation tomorrow!

I'm bored of packing... my room is currently a death-trap of all my stuff. I still have to figure out the kitchen too. I'm hoping to get all of my stuff out by tomorrow after graduation, then it's on to sorting it out for disney at home.

This morning I had to have my car towed because I had a transmission leak... and by leak, I mean that the fluid was pouring out like it was Niagara falls! Fun fun times! so it was towed to an Aamco, and they basically told my dad that my transmission is junk, but that's what you get for a Dodge- Drips Oil Drops Grease Everywhere. so despite the value of my car being $2,000, my mother is somehow fine with paying $2,000 to replace my transmission??? But if I can still get down to FL, I'm happy. Plus, I don't think I'm ready to let that car go yet. It's been with me for six years. It's like my baby!

Besides my car today we had graduation rehearsal in the rain. It was basically all "you're gonna sit here, you're gonna line up here, and we're gonna do all this and that and blah blah blah..." so, not very eventful. After that was the lobster bake- corn, lobster, chowdah, potatoes, and beer! Oh, UNH, I love when you give us booze. I still smell like lobster.

Now to continue my attempt at packing everything... this should be interesting... perhaps I'll try the kitchen again as I sob over the last Woodchuck. I really hope they have some proper cider in FL.

Fun fun times....

On Friday I took my one and only final to finish my semester, which was exciting! Well not the final itself, the final had no excitement... worst class ever actually, but it's done! Woot! So of course I decided to go downtown with my friends for some drinks. Well, before I even get to the bar I stepped off the curb into a divit in the road and my foot just rolled sideways, which i believe is not supposed to happen. I figured I was fine because I've done that before and still went to the bar, but of course the pain didn't go away. The next day it hurt to walk on it, which of course means it's sprained.... the week before graduation, lovely. On top of that I now have a sore throat, which probs means I have a cold. Hello vitamin C! I'm a mess. luckily my awesome boyfriend was around to help take care of me this weekend. sadly though, I'm on my own for the rest of the week.... and I've still gotta pack the rest of my things! Hopefully this heals quickly. I'm totally a champ. If I'm not better by Disney time I'll def be sucking it up; can't be weak for the mouse!

UNH classes are over with.... forever!

Thursday was my last day of undergrad classes ever! It ended perfectly in my wines class with a glass of Dom Perignon, not kidding! It was pretty amazing! Honestly, I never expected my last class to have that much awesomeness.... my head might explode! Before we drank it a girl lifted her glass and sad "Wait! To our last class ever!" we all cheers-ed to that, and of course, me being overly-emotional, got a little welling of tears in my eyes when I clinked my glass with Brittany.
I drove home that night to bring stuff home and to get some car work done (which the rain kind of prevented, except for getting new wipers- yay!), and as i was leaving campus i just kept thinking about how i never thought this would come, how I'm leaving for Florida soon, how I may not see this place again for quite a while, and how I know that Andy my roommate for 3 years) is going to give me the biggest hug at graduation.... I couldn't make it to the highway without crying, and I'm not even officially done yet. How did I get so emotional??? Seriously, I'm going to DISNEY WORLD! I should be excited, not crying about leaving a place that caused me a whole bunch of stress... ugh. I have 2 more weeks to prepare myself.

UNH, I'll miss you dearly

I've spent 3 seemingly quick years as a student here (and 2.5 crazy non-student years that I won't dwell on) making my way through classes of various interest levels. This place has created a lot of memories for me, and I do believe that I will miss it for various reasons...

Things I will Miss about UNH in no particular order:
  • Gables- My only home throughout my 3 years here.
  • Kurt's Lunchbox-SOOOOO GOOOOOOOODDDD!!!!
  • Hockey games- Love those guys!
  • Waiting in line for hockey games- Ass hurting from concrete, going hungry from waiting for hours, friends bringing me food, anticipation for the doors to open, and running like a fiend to get first row despite the fact that I could have fallen and gotten seriously hurt, but you bet your ass I was gonna get those damn seats!!
  • The disgusting downstairs floor of Libby's- Found a dollar on that floor Halloween weekend 2009, enshrined it as the "Dirty Dollah". Pure will power prevented it from being spent.
  • The comfy chairs in McConnel
  • Wings Your Way- But I guess a lot of people will miss that, since it closed
  • The WT-1 Bus- The greatest bus you could ever step foot on... it may get it's own post because it is honestly that great... I think I need a picture of it to frame on my wall
  • My giant people watching window in my apartment- I will always miss people watching from it
  • Buff Chix pizza from Hoco
  • Monkey Bread from HoCo- oooohhhhh man!
I'm having trouble thinking of others, but I may add more as I think of them

Ends and beginnings

I'm now In my final week as a college student, and it's sort of weird, but hasn't settled in yet. I found out that I received a college program internship in recreation in March, and though excited, that hasn't fully kicked in yet either. I think it may be a little different for me though, for this one, being my second program and also coming after the whirlwind which is the end of my years of education. I do, however feel very lucky to have been given a job before even finishing school, especially in this economy, but I had little doubt that I wouldn't receive it, due to my great record from my previous program, and telling them in my interview that I'd hope to stay with the company when the program is over.
I've already begun packing my things and bringing home clothes and stuff I don't need, and graduation isn't even till the 21st, but I kinda love packing. I've been ready to leave UNH for a while now, but I'll miss it.
